Myriad
Losing oneself in the hypnotic ripples of color and light where water and rocks meet is one of life's small pleasures. I found such a spot in a stream a few miles from my home, and lingered. I thought it might be meditative to recreate it as a drawing. Little did I know it would take five months to finish, like assembling a 5,000 piece jigsaw puzzle after first making the pieces myself. It became an extended lesson on seeing shapes, colors and values instead of objects. The result fits into my ongoing series of detailed studies of the natural world; I aim to give Nature a voice that is heard by people who otherwise would not notice.
