Colossal Companions

At the top of Sonora Pass in the Sierra Nevada mountains I found this remarkable pair: a boulder as big as a house and a tree older than the pass itself. No image can convey their size but I've tried to capture their character and the shadows that connect them. Colored pencil on BFK Rives paper.
